Device Management Services
Device management service for firmware management, device twin and device configuration management can be enabled as a service for IoT devices using the device Service Profile.
Device management service can be enabled in the Service Profile by enabling the Instant Device Management Service or alternatively customer can choose to use the Azure IoThub Service.
Instant Device Management (Coming Soon)
The Instant Device Management Service is our full fledged integrated Device Management Service. It enables all the standard device management functions such as firmware management, configuration management, etc. and provides customers the tools to directly perform device management events from the Portal or by using our secure APIs.
Azure IoThub Device Management
The Azure IoThub Service unlocks device management capabilities for millions of IoT devices using a wide range of IoT protocols. It provides a bridge that allow these devices (that normally would not be able to access the Azure IoThub) to be managed from the customer Azure IoThub instances. In principle this services enable customers to consolidate and manage their various IoT assets directly from the Azure account.
To use the Azure IoThub service, please create an Upstream Profile with Azure IoT hub as the target application. Assign the profile to the service profile, choose which of the device identity to use for device identififcation on the Azure IoThub. If auto provisioning is enabled on the Service Profile, the selected device identity type will be used to automatically create the device into the Azure IoThub as avalid device object.
